Hello all you dog lovers!
I am thrilled to be able to tell you everything that I know about taking care of Goldendoodle puppies. In fact, as a Goldendoodle mum myself, I have had the highs and lows of raising these little cuties. So go make yourself some coffee or tea, whatever suits your fancy, and let’s begin this journey into the world of Goldendoodles!
Introduction to Goldendoodles: The Perfect Blend of Golden and Poodle
I swear when I first saw a Goldendoodle it was love at first sight. These dogs are like living teddy bears; combining attributes from both Golden Retrievers and Poodles. They are intelligent, sociable, adorably cuddly pets; therefore no wonder they have become one of the most beloved breeds among others.
Goldendoodles come in all sorts of sizes and coat types which make them suitable for various lifestyles. There is a size of Goldendoodle that will adjust perfectly with one's life whether one lives in an apartment or has an expansive backyard. Nevertheless, small or big they may be, their hearts are huge!
Goldendoodle Types and Sizes: Finding Your Perfect Match
Alright, let’s break down what “Goldendoodlish” means.
Terms like F1, F1B, or F2 might be used. Don’t worry; it’s not as complex as it seems.
F1 Goldendoodles
These are dogs that have 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle genes. They are offspring from the cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle.
F1B Goldendoodles
These puppies have 75% Poodle and 25% Golden Retriever bloodlines. Typically their coats curl more and they shed less.
F2 Goldendoodles
They come about when two F1 Goldendoodles mate.
Mini Goldendoodles
They usually weigh between fifteen and thirty-five pounds, hence very small. Suitable for life in an apartment!
Medium Goldendoodles
Weighing at 35-50 lbs on average, these little guys are just about right.
Standard Goldendoodles
These are the big boys (and girls) of the Goldendoodle world weighing between fifty to ninety pounds.
Goldendoodle Growth Phases: From Toy Puppy to Full-Grown Furball
Watching your Goldendoodle puppy grow could be compared to watching a time-lapse video recording of cuteness. This is what you can anticipate:
8 weeks old
Usually, this is around the time when you bring your puppy home; they are tiny, clumsy, and absolutely adorable.
4 months
Your pup grows very fast! They are more coordinated than before and full of energy.
6 months
The “teenage” phase. Your Goldendoodle may push boundaries during this time, but they also pick things up fast.
1 year
Most Goldendoodles attain their full height at around this age but they may keep filling out.
2 years old
At this stage, your Goldendoodle has become an adult – both physically and mentally.
